  • Three business partners who met through Xerox Corporation (Ken Fiske, Ed Reehil, and Joe Holroyd) incorporate as KENEDJO (combination of partners 1st names) hoping to license their custom electronic digital clock design.
  • KENEDJO's design works, but Texas Instruments introduces lower power CMOS technology that ends their design's commercial viability.

  • Ken Fiske's neighbor, Tom Walsh, asks for help in fixing a homemade security system he has created for his home.
  • Fiske, a Xerox design engineer, gets system to work but suggests improvements that would make it better.

  • Local architect, and friend of Tom Walsh, is impressed with his security system and desires one for himself.
  • Walsh has Ken Fiske implement his previous recommendations in the design and installation of an improved 16 zone home security system in the architect's home.
  • Fiske gets referral business and reunites KENEDJO partners to help fulfill the requests for additional systems.
  • KENEDJO is selected to design and install a security system for the Al Sigl Center in Rochester, NY.

  • KENEDJO is renamed to SenDEC (Sensing Digital Electronic Controls) as a security system design, manufacturing and installation company.

  • Launch of SenDEC System 8 – The 1st microprocessor based residential security system.

  • SenDEC receives funding from KG Capital.

  • SenDEC divests itself of its security business by selling it to partner Joe Holroyd who incorporates the spin-off as Sendex Security Systems, Inc. SenDEC is now free to focus its energy on contract electronics manufacturing services.

SenDEC invests in its 1st Surface Mount Technology (SMT) line.

1988

  • MDT-Castle recognizes SenDEC for saving them $500K and reducing development time by 6 months.
  • SenDEC consolidates manufacturing and moves to new production facility at 2650 Baird Road in Fairport, NY. SenDEC manufacturing operations include design and test engineering, manual and automated through hole assembly, wire and cable harnessing, and surface mount placement.
  • Herb Ley, owner and President of SIPAP Electronics, Inc. seeks design, prototype and production services from SenDEC for his invention of a digital maintenance meter that records engine running time and alerts when service is due.

  • SIPAP displays Maintenance Meter prototype at the International Lawn, Garden and Power Equipment EXPO ‘89 and takes orders for 1000 units on show floor.

  • SIPAP Electronics exhibits the Maintenance Meter at the International Lawn, Garden and Power Equipment EXPO ‘90 and wins the Innovative Products Award.

  • SenDEC implements formal Quality Assurance Program.

1993

  • SenDEC is recognized as a Xerox approved supplier for completion of their multi-national supplier quality program and its commitment to total quality management practices. SenDEC was approved based on same criteria used to help Xerox win the Malcolm Baldrige Award.
  • SenDEC aquires SIPAP Electronics and its Products business is born.
  • SenDEC Sentry Maintenance Meter for equipment rental market is launched.
